Ken Carlson is the Managing Director and Founder of Boreas Ventures. Ken has over 15 years of experience in private equity, banking, FinTech, structured finance, and real estate. He has a strong track record of successfully executing complex investment strategy, managing large portfolios, credit administration and building sophisticated financial models. Ken is an expert level user of Microsoft Excel with significant experience manipulating large volumes of data and building automated financial models.
Before founding Boreas Ventures, Ken served as VP of Credit and Risk and Interim Chief Credit Officer for P2Binvestor, Inc. (“P2Bi”). P2Bi is a technology enabled marketplace lender that originates commercial lines of credit secured by accounts receivable and inventory. P2Bi utilizes an online platform where accredited investors purchase participations in the underlying credit facilities. As head of the Credit and Risk department, Ken was responsible for administering the credit policy, loan underwriting and servicing, risk management and was a voting member of Board of Directors Credit Committee and Chairman of Operational Credit Committee.
Prior to his tenure at P2Bi, Ken held positions of increasing responsibility at Metropolitan Merchant Capital (“MetMC”) a FinTech startup backed by a New York based private equity group focused on deploying capital into non-bank lending, Prologis, Inc. an independent equity real estate investment trust based in Denver, CO and Klaff Realty, LP a privately owned real estate investment firm based in Chicago, IL. While at Klaff Realty, Ken was the lead analyst responsible for coordination of the Hersch Klaff investor group that finished second in the bidding process to acquire the Chicago Cubs Major League Baseball Team, Wrigley Field, and an interest in Comcast SportsNet Chicago from the Tribune Co.
Ken holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH with a major in finance. Ken lives in Lafayette, CO with his wife and two sons. He is an avid skier and enjoys golfing, camping, and sailing.
